Didn’t see any other posts, but today is the 40th anniversary of commercial Concorde service. Here’s BA’s press release:

And here’s some video from the last domestic Concorde flight flown by a US airline in 1980. Braniff crew operated DFW-IAD with BA and AF Concordes which it temporarily re-registered in the US for the domestic service.

My wife was in London in 2003 and has a fantastic/sad photo, taken from the top of the London Eye, of the last commercial flight on approach over the city, escorted by 2 more Concordes.

Well, fantastic/sad for what it represents, anyway. What it looks like is 3 black dots above the London skyline...

It’s on film and in a box somewhere, or I’d scan and post it.

Yeah I’m still kicking myself for not taking advantage of the screaming deal BA was offering for Concorde’s retirement. $1700 r.t. Concorde one way and a one way economy ticket back from JFK-LHR. In hindsight, even as a broke student it was a no brainier.

Yup, that’s a choice you’ll regret for ever.

Mine was seeing students chipping bits off the Berlin Wall on TV while I was living in England, thinking “History is about to happen, Berlin’s about to have the biggest party Europe’s seen since 1945, and if I hop in the car now and drive through the night, I could be part of it”, and then going “nah, I need to be at work tomorrow”.

Should have pulled that sickie...

Yeah I know. Re: wall - I love how the biggest party (and victory) of the Cold War was because a guy misspoke in a press conference.
